9 Weeks at home is a LONG time. Especially for a family that is used to being on the go. So today I am sharing some of our favorite things to beat boredom. Boredom occasionally isn’t a terrible thing, but day after day, week after week, it’s gets to be a little much.
CRAFTS

PAINTING | KINETIC SAND | DIAMOND PAINTING | SMART SKETCHER
My kids love to do crafts, but as a mom it can get overwhelming to move form one mess to the next. Here are a few things we have that the kids love. PAINTING. Painting is messy, but the older your kids get the more contained and doable it becomes. Also These cups from Melissa and Doug help reduce spills. KINETIC SAND. This is a love it or hate it toy. We love it. I actually prefer this over Playdoh. It’s also great to take outside on a nice day. DIAMOND PAINTING. Lilly and I got into diamond painting early on in the quarantine, the one we are working on is a bit more complex (find it HERE) but they make great options for kids too! SMART SKETCHER. This is a winner! Lilly had it on a Christmas wish list, and the kids LOVE it. The best part is it’s not messy!

GAMES

MEXICAN TRAIN | MONOPOLY | BATTLESHIP SHOTS | PHASE 10 | CLUE
Have you been playing a ton of games in your house too? It seems like boards games are our go to activity on rainy days. Some are great for the kids to play on their own like MONOPOLY or BATTLESHIP SHOTS, some we love as a family. MEXICAN TRAIN, PHASE 10 and CLUE are our go to family favorites.

OUTDOORS

SOCCER NET & BALL | CHALK | FLOOR DART GAME | TREE SWING
Being outside and getting fresh air is essential for us! As the weather continues to warm up, finding more outdoor toys/activities helps deter from getting stir crazy. For Easter our youngest got a SOCCER BALL and SOCCER NETS. None of my kids play organized soccer, but it’s a great game that they can play in our backyard. SIDEWALK CHALK has been a must have from the start of quarantine. Every once and awhile we will throw something new into the mix. I found this mat DART GAME on Amazon and think it will be great for indoor or outdoor play. Lastly, the BEST THING WE HAVE BOUGHT in all of quarantine. the SWING. My kids love this! They had been popping up in our neighborhood a ton, and I thought a hammock style would be perfect for Lilly to sit in to read. Our exact one is from Target, but I actually like this one better. Over quarantine my kids have all found a love of bike riding. They are on their bikes every single day, and it’s a great form of exercise.

TOYS

KARAOKE MACHINE | LEGOS | FUSE BEADS | MAGNETIC TILES
Our kids are slowly growing out of the toy phase and tech is taking over, but over the past few months, toys have been so helpful in beating the boredom. Out of any toy I can recommend the MAGNETIC TILES have been used again and again for years. LEGOS are messy, and can be frustrating to organize, but provide hours of entertainment for all 3 of my kids. The KARAOKE MACHINE is all my daughter. The boys aren’t really into it, but she sings multiple times a day!
So there are some things my kids and our family have been doing over quarantine to keep busy. I hope it helps come up with some boredom busters for your family as well!
