Talk about jumping right back into reality this week…MAN am I glad it’s Friday! This week seems like a jumbled mess. We did get to celebrate JD turning 7 last weekend which was so amazing (more on that in a bit). The kids went back to school after winter break on Monday, to then have an early release on Tuesday for snow, no school on Wednesday, and a 2 hour delay on Thursday….. I scrambled a bit, but we have made it through the week!

Of course boring and predictable me would have done almost the EXACT same thing last year on almost the EXACT same day…..This was the before and after of my haircut January 2019.
After missing my hair appointment that was scheduled for the BEGINNING of December, I am FINALLY making it to the salon today to get a fresh new look for 2020. As I type this Thursday night, I am still on the fence about doing a big chop and going short again. I can’t decide!
1. HAIR TOOLS
Speaking of hair…. I bought a curling iron a few weeks ago and it was kind of a disaster. I picked up a 1 1/4 barrel iron from Target on a whim to see if that worked a bit better now that my hair is getting longer, well, this curling iron IS THE WORST! It works fine, and the heating element is good, but the end is rounded, so there is no way to hold onto it without burning your hand…. So I am still on the search for that, but below are my other favorite hair tools, and my all time must have product…. the Kenra Heat Protectant Spray!

Hairdryer ( I don’t need fancy) / 3/4 Curling Iron / The Straightener I LOVE 1 in barrel Curling Iron / Kenra Spray
2. JD TURNED 7!
It was such a fun time celebrating JD turning 7! His actual birthday was the day they went back to school, so we kept that casual. We did treat bags for his class, his favorite dinner, and then a Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake, that I then decorated (not my best work) into a Ninjago.
The Saturday before his birthday was his day. As I mentioned before we like to give the kids an experience for their birthday instead of a big party. For JD this year we went to Top Golf which was a BLAST! We all had the best time. Then we did dinner out at Uncle Julio’s and ordered the Chocolate Piñata for him for dessert.

3. MY CURRENT FAVORITES – WARDROBE

I took some time over the break to clear out my clothing. For so long I have held onto clothes, that I just NEVER wear. I guess because I have the space I don’t feel the need to get rid of it, but it was cluttering up my mind almost. I was having a hard time picking outfits because all I would see is these items that either didn’t fit, or were no longer my style. So I am trying a bit of a different approach. Not quite a capsule wardrobe ( I thought about doing that, but it’s too drastic of a change) but more of a wardrobe that consists of staple pieces that I can mix and match more. I also didn’t want to go out a buy a ton of new clothes (starting this cycle all over again) so I have about 12 favorite pieces that I am going to try to mix and match throughout the winter.

Want to follow along on what I am wearing? Every Monday I share all my outfits from the previous week in my IG Stories, AND I have a highlight (HERE) where you can see all the past ones! I am on the Liketoknow.it app but I get not everyone is into that, so I try to share on my stories as much as possible AND if you click the shop tab at the top of my blog, it makes it super simple to find things as well!
4. PHOTO STORAGE
As I sit here and type, my phone is currently working on overdrive trying to backup over 7K in photos to google photos. I am SO incredibly terrible at digital photo storage. It’s so overwhelming and hard to keep up with. Not only just backing up the photos I know I want to keep, but also sorting through the random screenshots, graphics I post to IG that I don’t necessarily need to archive, and just junk photos I don’t need. I am also terrified to delete the photos from my phone (even once backed up) which makes it pretty much impossible to organize them within my phone’s photo app…… basically this is just a cry for HELP! How do you do it, what works best for you?
5. WEEKEND PLANS
I am so excited for this weekend. I have NO plans. YES! There is some baseball/basketball sprinkled through the weekend, but Matt will handle most of that. I have 2 whole days to just relax! I have a bit of a to do list which includes working on some video content, finishing packing up some Christmas decor, cleaning, and I really want to organize in my kitchen a bit. Other than that, I may start a new series on Netflix (any good suggestions?) or make a new book stack for 2020. Here are a few I already have on my list.

I hope you all had a great week and whatever you have planned for the weekend is great! Coming up next week I am sharing a grocery haul, a day in my life of today, so you get to find out how short I cut my hair!, and a few decluttering tips as well!
