I swear it is some joke on how quickly this holiday season is going by. While in a way I am feeling more prepared than I have in years past, I just feel like there hasn’t been a lot of down time to just soak it all in. I am telling myself that the kids winter break from school is going to be slow and relaxing, so we shall see. Let’s jump into 5 things from this week.
1. Holiday Baking

I have been sharing my baking updates on IG and adding them to a highlight, which you can find HERE, and the questions fly in every time I show a cookie photo. Once I reveal my deep dark secret that most of my cookies are not from scratch, I get a wow that’s so easy! YES! I am all about keeping it as simple as possible! If you are looking for recipes or my tips for baking, I do have an older blog post you can see HERE.
2. Books We Love
One of my favorite traditions we have during the holiday time is our book basket. Over the years we collected so many holiday themed books, and I make sure to only bring them out when our Christmas decor goes up. Each night from Thanksgiving until Christmas we pick a book to read as a family. We read every night throughout the year as well, but there is something magical about reading a Christmas book with the tree glistening in the background.

Here are some of our favorite books! I also have a whole SHOP in my Amazon Storefront dedicated to Holiday books. I would love to add to it, so let me know your favorites as well!

3. Parade Day
Each year my friend hosts an amazing party at her home on our towns parade day. It is always to festive and a great time. We do a potluck breakfast, then walk up to where our chairs are set to watch the parade. After, we return to her house for lunch and an afternoon with friends. We are all so busy with our kids in the spring/summer/fall this time of year is a great time for us all to catch up. I decided to make another attempt at a party board. I have become obsessed with looking at these on IG. This time I did a candy board.

4. Holiday Shopping
I am done….. I think. I still have to finish sorting and wrapping, which I am hoping to knock out today, but I am DONE shopping. I did 99% online this year, and it was a breeze. I still have to shop for JD’s birthday which is the first week of the new year, but that can wait.
Check out my gift guides if you are still looking for ideas! A lot of these items are shipped prime, so plenty of time!
5. Weekend Plans
We finally have a relatively low key weekend. We are trying out ice skating for a bit on Saturday, and then it’s just the start of preparing our home for company. My goal is to have the baking and wrapping completely done. I also hope to plan out the food for Christmas and have a grocery list or order ready to go.
What are you up to this weekend, anything fun and festive?
